pope benedictAccording to sources,Pope Benedict XVI has had a life long history of obeying the kitty. People familiar with him speak of his kindness towards the stay cats of Rome, where he reportedly brought many of them into his garden (which also featured a large cat statue) and took care of them.

He is also the first Pope to have an authorized biography of himself written by a cat, “Chico”, reportedly a ginger tabby cat that lived with him years ago in Benedict’s house in the village of Pentling, Germany. (Joseph and Chico: The Life of Pope Benedict XVI as Told by a Cat) The book has been translated into 10 languages already.

Friends of the Pope also tell of his attachment to cats, with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone once telling an Italian newspaper (in 2005) that  cats sometimes walked with him to his office in the Vatican. “One time the Swiss Guards had to intervene,” Cardinal Bertone joked. “ ‘Look, your eminence, the cats are laying siege to the Holy See.’ ”

Chairman Meow Says: Iz very good that man in powerful position such as Pope Benedict obeys the kitty. His cats will help him make good decisions, especially after bad decision early in life of joining the Nazi Party. (Oops, in hindsight iz usually bad to join militant hate group, but you live and learn.)

However, Chairman Meow disturbed by several reports, including one from Pope Benedict’s housekeeper denying that the Pope owns cats. She was quoted as saying that the only cats he owns “are porcelain.” A number of people close to the Pope believe that letting the public know that he obeys the kitty would be bad for his image, and somehow make him less godly. Why can the Catholic Church not embrace the glorious Kitty? The Kitty is open-minded about the Church, and not criticize?

Chairman Meow reminded of lost verse from Genesis part of Bible:

“And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And Cat would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat’s eyes, he was reminded that he was not the supreme being. And Adam learned humility.

And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly improved… And Cat did not care one way or the other.”
